Description by publisher
Scriptol is a modern, very powerful and easy to learn programming language.
It is intended both to program applications, using Java or GTK for GUI, to program scripts and web pages.
Web pages are converted to PHP and html. Scriptol is object-oriented and xml-oriented, and has methods for any object including integers, texts and lists.
Scriptol is the first programming language to integrate xml as a data structure.
Dom is now a part of the built-in classes.
A tutorial, allowing step by step learning of programming with Scriptol.
Scriptol doesn't need for a library: it uses the PHP, Java or C++ ones, and thus provides unlimited resources for applications or web programming.
Free compilers are included to compile Scriptol to Php or C++ or binary executables with garbage collector.

Nov 10, 2003 21:10:01 by Jay Austin I first found Scritol on this site months and months back. Since then, it's seen me thru several Win32 projects and now I use it for my Linux site as well. Scriptol is a fast, easy to use language that is especially suited for active-content webpage developement. In other words, it's a nicer PHP than PHP, with the option of porting your code to C++ as well. Code is very readable, with clear and powerful handling of class objects & members, and the language itself is easy to learn, requiring only a few days.
Windows version comes with a nice IDE, while the Linux is command line-oriented (or run the Win. version under Wine to use the IDE). Ideal for rapid-development or projects that require portability, especially between Linux and Windows.
Requires PHP/C++ set up, both of which can be found for free. Inst. in the manual. See the main site at http://www.scriptol.com for extras or the Linux version.
