Description by publisher
PRESENTATION:The package includes 3 different applications: XL-Reader, for end-users to navigate through documents in XLR format; XLR Doc Builder, for authors to build documents in XLR format and alternate formats (static HTMLs, and JavaHelp's XMLs); XLR Tpl Builder, an additional tool for authors willing to create their own templates for use in XLR Doc Builder.
Applications are delivered online and deployed by a self-installer (the deployed applications include an uninstaller).
PURPOSE:
The key idea is to simplify the import, organization, updates and appearance of huge HTML-based documents being accessed either online, or by CDROMs.
Recommended for technical writers.
Authors may export the organized documents either in XLR format (viewable by XL-Reader), and alternatively in HTML format, or JavaHelp's XML format.
Documents in XLR format may be sonified and digitally signed by the author.
XL-Reader's end-users can explore, search, print, annotate pages, authentify the author of XLR documents, assign and save application's preferences. The "table of contents" navigation tool uses the word-wrapping technique.
PERFORMANCE:
Current version works on every Linux, Solaris, and Windows, supporting JVM 1.3.0 final version, and higher.
CONTENT:
XL-Reader is being shipped with an help in XLR format, allowing the end-user to make annotations.
XLR Doc Builder contains a User's Guide in HTML format with a series of small exercises to learn the application by practice. This guide contains a standard and an expert section.
XLR Tpl Builder's User's Guide is built in the same way as XLR Doc Builder's one. It contains a standard section.
